Eddie “Scooter” Tucker rejoins the Pelicans staff in 2008 for his second season as the roving instructor. Drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 1988, Tucker made his Major League debut with the Houston Astros as a catcher in 1992. The Pace resident batted in a lineup that consisted of Craig Biggio, Steve Finley, Ken Caminiti, and Jeff Bagwell. Tucker led the Astros Triple-A team to the Pacific Coast League Championship during the 1993 season and earned the series MVP honors before being called up to the majors.
Tucker first met Pelicans Manager Mac Seibert in college when they played against each other. Tucker played his college baseball at Delta State University and earned All-American honors in 1988 along with being named to the All-Gulf South Conference team three times. Tucker will be working with the Pelicans players on an individual basis and will be present in the dugout for Pelicans home games.
