Della Ratta rejoins the Pelicans in 2007, this time as the Pitching Coach for Mac Seibert’s staff. The Gulf Breeze native played an important role as player/manager during the Pelicans 2002 inaugural championship season. The right-hander was originally drafted by the Oakland A’s in 1996 after graduating from South Alabama University and advanced as far as Double-A. Della Ratta also played with the Marlins and Mets organizations and posted a 2.18 ERA with Binghamton in 1999. Dell Ratta, 33, has been active in the Pensacola community since his retirement in 2003, assisting with Pelicans baseball clinics held throughout the year. Della Ratta currently coaches the Gulf Breeze High School baseball team.
