Richard Morris returns to the Pelicans for the 2008 season bringing over 35 years of professional baseball scouting and coaching experience to the Pelicans dugout. Prior to working with the Pelicans, Morris worked alongside Pelicans Manager Mac Siebert at Team One which is among the nation’s leading baseball scouting combines. Morris was involved since the inception of Team One, which currently has over 140 participants playing in the Major Leagues, including Eric Chavez, Hank Blalock, and C.C. Sabathia.
From 2003-2005 Morris managed the Roanoke College baseball team in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. In 2004 Morris led the Maroons to their only postseason appearance. Morris has coached major-league talent including current Diamondbacks outfielder Trot Nixon. In 1992 Morris led his USA Jr. Nationals team to a gold medal over clubs with players such as Alex Rodriguez and Preston Wilson. Morris also spent time over the years working in clinics in New Jersey with Hall of Fame catcher Gary Carter. He currently resides in Lynchburg, VA.
