2010 Scoop’s Reading Challenge

Get in the Game!

Taking part in Scoop's Reading Challenge provides an opportunity for students to expand their literary horizons beyond the classroom. This incentive-based program is free to your school and is easily adaptable for any curriculum or grade level.

The 2010 Scoop’s Reading Challenge is scheduled to take place
March 3 - April 14 2010

Why participate in Scoop’s Reading Challenge? To help encourage reading with your students in a fun way. Goals may include reading comprehension, number of pages read, number of books read or AR Points to name a few...creativity is encouraged!

How does Scoop’s Reading Challenge work?
The program is set up on a "base" system, and each “base” represents a reading goal set by the teacher. Each time a student advances a base, he or she will earn the prize associated with that base. Each student may earn a prize from the Pelicans and Gulf Winds Federal Credit Union, and two (2) tickets to a Pelicans baseball game. As an added incentive, each teacher will select three All-Star Readers (based on any criteria you choose) to receive a free membership into the 2010 Pelicans Kids Club! This membership means free admission to all Sunday games and a t-shirt.

Get in the Game!

It’s as easy as 1-2-3!

What else do I need?
All supplies will be delivered to your classroom by your Program Coordinator. You will receive two deliveries over the course of the program:

1. Program Kick-Off

Each classroom will receive one tracking poster for the classroom and one bookmark per student as a “Stepping Up to the Plate” prize. First and Second Base prizes will be sent with this delivery, please award students as they reach the base. 2. Program Wrap-Up

Each teacher will place a ticket order with his or her Program Coordinator at the close of the program. Tickets will be delivered to your classroom in May by the Coordinator.

To ensure timely deliveries for all participants, please register by February 19, 2010.
