Brandon Sing Hits League Leading Eighth Home Run
Pels Fall in opener of three game series at El Paso

Brandon Sing added to his league leading home run total, but it wasn’t enough as the Pelicans fell to the Diablos 11-3.

Sing started the scoring off for the Pelicans when he crushed his eighth home run of the season over the left field wall giving the Pels a 1-0 lead.

The lead did not last long for Pelicans. In the bottom of the third with 1 out, Albanus Machado and Bryan Cooksey had back to back singles. Jorge Alvarez then blasted a three run home run. The Diablos were not done scoring, Matt Kent singled and Bryon Smith hit an RBI double giving El Paso a 4-1 lead.

In the fourth inning the Diablos tacked on an insurance run. They also scored two more runs in each of the sixth, seventh, eighth innings against Pelicans relievers to take an 11-1 lead.

The Pelicans did score two runs in the ninth inning on RBI singles by Dylan Parzyk and Sean Gamble.

The starter for the Diablos, Josh Neitz went seven innings, striking out seven batters and allowing just one run on four hits to get his second win of the season.

Chris Rickey will get his first start of the season for the Pelicans tomorrow in game two of a three game series at El Paso.
